Example: If a schizophrenic is standing outside cursing at clouds today, they will probably be standing outside cursing at clouds tomorrow. Bipolar (of the chronic, psychotic variety) will have a patient who could wake up sobbing then be passionately in love then crash into sleep then wake up violent then mildly curious about what the cops are doing there - all in an afternoon.
