After everything that's happened: years of supporting this person and her son; stealing from her parents savings & retirement; ruining everyones credit & reputation...
They allowed her to sit on $10,000? That doesn't make her rich, but its enough to allow her to do damage beyond the computer screen. This was exactly what I feared would happen. What if she had decided to go California instead? The police might not have caught her in time. I am certainly not surprised she did it, but I am shocked she was allowed to do it. Mental illness can be a devastating thing. Often - the folks that have a particular disease or issue, don't realize there's an issue. It's like there is a built in denial system with the illness. The more severe mental illnesses are particularly hard on persons, their families, and their friends who struggle to support them, even when the affected person may be hating them for it.
Why? Because the person is sick. Not because they have malice or bad intentions. That'd be like blaming a kid with leukemia for their white cells being abnormal.
Who'd do that? A lack of insight is often one of the most prevalent symptoms in a mental illness.
I hope this incident serves as a positive catalyst - for everyone involved.

Lisa knew her court date was Wed and chose to leave town. Whoever reported her actually did her a huge favor as it would have been much worse for her in a foreign country.
I'm torn about which would be the better senario: Lisa having her terrorist loving ass in a country where her manners would be put in check, or behind bars away from the love of her life - the internet.
I have an adopted daughter. Her mother was severely mentally ill. I didn't get this child until she was 10, but the damage was done. My daughter, despite therapy and medication, grew into a manipulative person. Lisa reminds me of my daughter. However, I took the computer away from my daughter, password locked the wi-fi, password locked the phone, no drugs or alcohol in the house, took her quarterly for her depo shot to make sure there would be no children she could not take care of. When my daughter was 21, she used the comp in the public library to solicit sex with someone she thought was famous and harrass people. Upshot was a very very ugly scene (my daughter threatened to have her "body guards" kill me and my minor child for "stealing" her life)where daughter was put out of the house, for my safety, the safety of my son, and forced her to seek in patient treatment, since out patient wasn't cutting it. So yeah, it's not easy dealing with mental illness. It is heartbreaking, frustrating, stressful and scary, but there are things that can be done. Lisa's parents do have steps they could take. But no, we have people whining about poor Lisa and how it is someone else's fault. If you are so concerned about Lisa, DO SOMETHING.

You are pointing the finger at the wrong person. If you want to blame anyone, blame Lisa and Lisa's Family for not being firm enough with her.

You know what's really sad is that if she had made the trip, she would have missed Dante's birthday. This speaks volumes about Lisa.
